Roselea entertained their most bitter rivals and with an indifferent display in front of their home support at the south inch won the match 4-1. First half was all the home side ,but offsides and poor passing in the final 3rd kept it at 0-0 for the first 15 mins,then Roselea started to play some nice football down the wings and get some crosses into to the box,but lack of support ment no reward,eventually old man Gunnion poked home from 5 yards after the ball was not cleared by the Letham defence, other chances came and went for Roselea with Letham never looking like scoring , albeit DJ had 2 or 3 efforts from distance ,but were no trouble for Jay (Slim) Scrymgeor in the Roselea goal. Into the 2nd half and a different Letham team came out and really got on top of Roseleas midfield who could not respond and with the ball not sticking up front it was a difficult half,but Roseleas back three were in good form and never let the Away teams front two get any clear cut chances,bar a mumbles header,the rest of the Letham attacks were long distance efforts from the full backs Curry and Mcduff which ended up near the boating pond.Roselea played all the 2nd half on the break and scored 2 through Birrell to make it 3-0. DJ pulled 1 back with an offside header,then Edgar made sure with a tidy finish. Overall a good first half,and prehaps took foot off gas,but in terms of chances a desewrved win for the home side ,but plenty to work on.
Roselea were deservedly put out of the scottish cup today from a much improved Carse Thistle team who were much hungrier as Roselea put in a really poor performance...
Roselea took an early lead through Birrell but then Carse came out and really put the pressure on the home team and with 3 at the back it was only a matter of time before they equalised and they did just before half time..
Into the 2nd half Roselea after a rollicking from manager Birrell played alot better and it was a fairly even 2nd half..
Extra time was fairly even before Kerso brought down the striker and a penalty was awarded and the striker made it 2.1.. Into the 2nd period Gunner was rightlly sent off then Kenny Graham got his marching order followed shortly by Birrell and it became embarrasing...
To sum up Roselea were well beat today with attitude called into question as the visitors wanted it alot more today and were well worth there victory... but with missing 5 or 6 1st teams players roselea will improve in the coming weeks.
Roselea were without D Scymgour,Fairlie,Jackson(all suspended). also missing were mclaren,taylor,young,and rylance..
Roselea travelled down to stirling with a host of players missing but the boys that came in all did well and deserved a draw.. 2 goals from williamson and 1 from birrell earned a reply which should see the return of R Hutchison,D Hutchison,Colin Young, Jason and Danny Scrymgeour along with Ricky Taylor. Jackson is still suspended..
It was quite a decent game of football considering the condition of the pitch.. Roselea started slightly the better and got there noses in front with Williamson midway through the 1st half and were quite comfortable then on 44mins a long ball caught out the back 3 and the Carse striker was on hand to score and the 1st half ended 1all.. Into the 2nd half it was pretty even when Carse took the lead and it looked like they were going on to win the game as they started playing much better but a mistake from there goalie led to tap in from Birrell and Roselea were back in it.. Roselea then went 2 at the back in order to find a winner but it was the home team who broke down the pitch to score what looked like the winner but with a few minute to go a cross from Fairlie was met by Williamson to earn Roselea a replay in perth next week..
